This time last year, the beach near my home in Toronto was buried under several feet of snow and ice (see the photographic evidence here and here), but this year, not so much.
I managed to take the camera out yesterday and was surprised at how Spring-like the area was.
- Little ice holds the shore of the lake
- Chickadees were out in profusion
- Tired of its icy perch, a gull takes wing
- I almost feel guilty taking a photo when someone has left seed out
- Her mate winging through the underbrush, a female cardinal rests
- A chickadee warms itself in the setting sun
- Small chunks of ice have washed ashore, finding solace in the shadows
- Was unfamiliar with these small brown and white ducks
- Hiding behind trees and rocks, the red squirrel goes to town on a pine cone
- The setting sun has quite the glare on flocks of resting gulls and ducks
- A small red squirrel lazily munches away as I fuss with my camera
- A gull fishes for sustenance but mostly finds junk
