…why would I resolve to change anything?
(Images are property of me, me, me, for once!)
And now for some downtown Toronto shots from my walkabout before Christmas dinner.
I am one of the lucky ones because I still have power, and I know the storm has been even more impactful east of Toronto (toward Kingston), but here are a few images from my house.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, the Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada finally opened in Toronto.
Today, I am posting some photos from their coral reef exhibits.
Yesterday, we checked out the birds of autumn. Today, it is a few furry friends I met in the cemetery who very warily kept an eye on me.
I guess I can understand that. Any movement in a cemetery must be a tad unnerving.
As I mentioned earlier, I took a bit of a walk to visit my grandparents’ grave yesterday and brought along my camera. During my expedition, I was glad to see that a number of animals had not yet given up on Toronto and could still be found, prepping for the coming winter.
Today, the birds.
As you can tell, I haven’t had much to talk about lately, so just to prove I’m alive, and hopefully entertain, here are some more photos from my time in New York City a few years ago.
A thousand spires of concrete and glass
Etch their signatures into the clouds,
Holiest of shrines to commerce and wealth.
A soulless furnace of misspent energy
Or engines of tomorrow’s successes?
Streets bathed in shadow that hides
The scurrying shells of men and women,
Wan caricatures of the human spirit,
Decorated and dedicated to jobs
That pay their bills but rob their souls.
Where are the sounds of Life
In this chthonic chamber of horrors?
Who sings the songs of individuality?
Originality and free thought flit
From corner to corner, shadow to shadow,
Fearful of the crushing boots of conformity;
Chirruping into the noisy silence in hope
They are not alone.
No monsters today, just people taking in the sights and enjoying the beautiful weather on a Sunday afternoon.
