Easily, one of the best things about living in a city like Toronto is the multicultural mix. No matter what types of food, what types of clothing, what types of people you want to meet, you can find it in Toronto.
For several years–but sadly, no longer–Toronto played host to a Chinese lantern festival on its waterfront, a spectacle of light and colour that only became more impressive the darker the evening.
These are a few of my favourite recollections.
- The entry gates to a land of mystery and beauty
- Serene Buddha wishing you well as you left the park
- Look closely, the dragon is made of dishes you’d find in Chinese restaurants
- Brightly lit animals littered the grounds and trees throughout the park
- Glass vials and orbs also featured heavily in the displays
- As the evening got darker, the pagoda became increasingly beautiful
- Two dragons would swim the pond, spewing water
- Koi leap from the pond in search of food
- The panda brigade look down on the crowd
- This gives you a sense of the scale of some of the displays
- I love the misty quality of the lily pond
- Snapped the shot a second or two late as the dragon moved past the tree
