Some of the fine-feathered freeloaders I saw on my trip to Victoria.
- Nestled within the canopy of a conifer, this fellow was looking for lunch
- Was really happy with the detail on this image
- Found the myriad crows hard to photography on sunny days as they are nothing but contrast
- Taking a break from the sun under the shade of water plants
- Mom and just one of her ducklings swimming through a hotel pond
- A moment’s libation at a bird bath filled with rubber ducks
- Three sparrows looking for snacks among the rocks
- This fellow waited patiently for pub diners to drop crumbs
- Something caught his attention
First of all I would like to say wonderful blog!
I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.
I have had a hard time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out.
I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first
10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any suggestions or hints? Thanks!
Thanks for visiting the blog and always open to questions.
It can take a bit to get into the “writing mode”, but one thing I find that really helps me is to simply write.
The challenge of figuring out how to begin is usually one of how to write perfectly…we all have it to some extent. One way around that is to give yourself permission to write something that doesn’t matter at all and therefore doesn’t have to be perfect.
It can be anything…describe an object in the room…write what happened at work yesterday…write the names of everyone in your family. But most importantly, let yourself write without thinking of anything else.
The act of writing, for me at least, knocks the rust off and begins the momentum you can then use for your project. And even when you start that, don’t try to get it perfect…hell, don’t even start at the beginning…start in the middle, near the end, whatever.
You can always edit it before you share it with someone else….and you may discover something completely new, which is the most amazing feeling.
I hope this helps…happy to talk ad nauseum (yours and/or mine).
Let me know how it goes and stay in touch…Randy
