A few snaps from my wanderings around Canada’s jewel on the west coast and capital of British Columbia.

: Learning to love playing with water droplets on leaves and petals

: This reminded me of a carillon

: The colours were so rich…almost overwhelming

: I like the simplicity of this image…yet with a sense of anticipation

: I liked the juxtaposition of nature and society

: Although almost buried, the shock of whiteness blasts through

: The endless possibilities for renewal in the opening petals of a flower

: Amazing colour variations as the bark peeled back to reveal new excitement

: The sense of continuity is the form of two flowers

: Verdant beauty standing out against the brown grasses

RC Scanner – Algonquin Park

Okay, so I’m continuing to play with my scanner, which does a decent, if not brilliant job with photos.

Here are a handful of shots taken about 15 years ago in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, several hours north and west of Toronto (Canadians measure distance by how long it takes to get there, not actual units of distance).

: A young bull checks out the forage at the side of the highway

: And hears someone taking pictures

: Beaver damned fine lake in the middle of the park

: A little washed out unfortunately, a crane surveys the water for signs of food

: Algonquin always reminds me of those films about geologic eras before dinosaurs

: He rose so beautifully among the grasses

: The blooms were so delicate

: Our national symbol blighted by some form of fungus

: The park squirrels were a lot less mangy than those in Toronto

: Someone had decorated an entire tree in their yard with these little things

: Poor flower had to seek some shade to avoid the beating sun

: The colours in this opening bloom were amazingly vivid

: I admit that I have a photo fetish for these wonders

: Although I abhor smoking, I thought the precision of this event was interesting

: Looked like a creature was crawling out of a scorched carapace

: The dandelion stems proved more interesting than the flowers

: You could hear the flowers wind open after a too too long winter

: Save but for the petal tips, these flowers were a stunning monochrome

Whither Spring in Toronto?

Previous post was obviously a false alarm…my apologies to all.

After several days of rain, freezing rain and a touch of hail, I thought it would be nice to remind Torontonians and people in a like weather scenario what Spring and Summer look like.

: Convert a blurry photo to black and white and it’s now called moody

: I swear he walked across the yard and couldn’t get off the ground

: Waited 10 minutes for me to get my act together

: Love the softness of this image

: Amazing colours, like out of a sci-fi film

: How Canadian is this?

: Reminds me a lot of my former father-in-law’s moustache, but colourful

: When a flower is imperfect, focus further inside

Spring hits Toronto (maybe?)

Took a walk earlier today with my camera, trying to shake the creative cobwebs. Got home just as the rains began, and feeling a whole lot better about things.

: Downtown Toronto is perpetually under construction, it seems, but the puddles help keep things beautiful

: Someone’s left a message for those of us fatigued by winter

: Clearing the throat to sing apparently includes fluffing out the feathers

: The only white flowers in a garden of purple and yellow

: As though making sure I’m okay, the sparrow peers around a twig

: I apparently made the grade as the sparrow focuses on other interests

: About the only bird that will stand up to a pigeon, the starling

: The skies begin a gentle song, one note at a time

Waterfront wanderings – Toronto

The summer of 2012 was an amazing time to walk the streets of Toronto, camera in hand. The weather was gorgeous–most days providing incredible sun–and the temperatures never got uncomfortable for human or beast. Life abounded in profusion.

The following are some shots I managed while meandering my way along the Toronto waterfront. I didn’t have to wander too far to get some interesting photos.
